In Ayurveda, PITTA are classified as medium build, fair skin (may burn easily), medium bone structure, and soft and warm skin . Their hair is soft and oily, and they may bald or grey pre-maturely. They have medium teeth that may have a hint of yellow to the bone color and soft gums that may bleed easily.
PITTA have a strong digestive fire (large appetites) and require complete meals to be satisfied. They like Sweet, Bitter, and Astringent foods like candy, green salads, and bananas. They like cold drinks. And have frequent bowel movements that may have an oily discharge (depending on diet). They will evacuate (run) quickly when they feel the urge in regards to stressors. Moderately active and intensely competitive spirits.
PITTA can be overly aggressive and jealous if pushed too far (which can be often). They are highly organized and intelligent, often with nearly photographic memories. They make great lawyers, teachers, politicians, and doctors. PITTA sleeps short and deep and often dreams of war and violence (often reflective of their jealous nature). Good speakers and communicators, but they can be short and cutting with their speech. Their energy focuses on “transformation”.
An imbalance of PITTA may cause digestive discomfort (bloating, diarrhea, gas, an acidic stomach) and is usually a result of stress, poor diet, or smoking. Their response to stress is most likely ” What did you do wrong? ” Because PITTA is short, sharp, and pungent we need sweet, cooling, and stabilizing methods at our approach to re-balance.
